Scholarships
Scholarships are available through the generosity of the Scaife Family Foundation. Teachers earn ACT 48 hours for participation in all adult programs and classes. Hours awarded equal the total number of hours of the lecture, event, or class. A completed event/class response form (available at the event) is required. For information, call 412.578.2560.

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh: Gallery Interactions

Celebrate the AAP’s 100th anniversary by joining artists in the exhibition as they discuss their work. After lunch, take a guided tour of the museum’s permanent collection, where you’ll focus on works created by Associated Artists of Pittsburgh members.

Don’t Miss the Myths

The stories and lessons from classical mythology are thousands of years old, yet they remain part of our everyday lives. Local author and educator Carrie Zuberbuhler Kennedy, M.Ed., discusses mythology’s relevance and its influence on science, popular culture, and the visual arts. After lunch, Kennedy and museum tour guides lead you on a hunt for mythological details in the museum’s art and architecture.
Contemporary Direction in Glass

Explore the vibrant color, surface texture, and sculptural form in studio glass. Meet at the Pittsburgh Glass Center for a tour of their facility and glassblowing and flame working demonstrations. Return to the museum for lunch in the café and continue your exploration with a guided tour of glass in the museum’s collection, led by Rachel Delphia, assistant curator of decorative arts.
Artists Who Challenged Conventions

Discover the “rule-breakers” in art. Elisabeth Roark, associate professor of art history at Chatham University, presents an illustrated lecture on artists including Caravaggio, Manet, Duchamp, and Warhol who invented new styles and challenged convention. After lunch, take a guided tour of “challenging” art, including works in the exhibition Ordinary Madness.
Holiday Traditions

Celebrate the world of holiday traditions! Meet at the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning for a tour of the Nationality Rooms, each decked out in the seasonal finery of its culture. Following lunch in the museum café, museum guides lead a tour of the Neapolitan presepio and discussion about selected religious works in the collection.
