Adult Studio Classes
Carnegie Museum of Art’s renowned permanent collection and temporary exhibitions provide unique environments that will inspire your creativity. Learn from professional artists in small classes that assure individual attention and lively exploration of original works of art in the galleries. Select work will be included in student exhibitions.

Refund policy: Cancellations made at least one week before class starts receive a refund less $10 processing fee. Cancellations made with less than one week’s notice, but prior to the second class meeting, receive a refund less $10 processing fee plus a single class fee. No refund for cancellations made after the second class has met.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: Should hazardous conditions result in cancellation of classes, announcements will be made on television stations KDKA, WTAE, WPXI and FOX, and through the Adult Studio message service at 412.622.1976.
Scholarships
Scholarships are available through the generosity of the Scaife Family Foundation. Teachers earn ACT 48 hours for participation in all adult programs and classes. Hours awarded equal the total number of hours of the lecture, event, or class. A completed event/class response form (available at the event) is required. For information, call 412.578.2560.
Drawing
Whether you are new to drawing, highly skilled, or looking to build your portfolio, we have the class for you. Beginners will receive step-by-step instruction, while more advanced artists will strengthen and refine their skills. Renowned artists guide students as they learn correct techniques, experiment with materials, sketch in the galleries, and share insights during critiques.

Painting
Painting the Figure (Castonguay)

The class will concentrate on color, proportion, line, composition and light. The class will feature the same partially draped model and consistent pose throughout to allow students to work on a midsize to large canvas. Oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels are welcome. Register online

Watercolor: Painting Outdoors
Learn how to capture outdoor views in watercolor during daylight or evening hours in areas surrounding the museum in Oakland. In the first session, explore watercolor techniques in the studio. In the last session, learn how to transform your outdoor watercolor sketches into finished paintings.
